Vision Tests

A clinician often performs a number of vision tests on a patient with suspected amblyopia (lazy eye) or other binocular vision disorders.

Tests of Binocular Vision

These tests look at different aspects of binocular vision, including suppression (is the patient using both eyes together), stereopsis (depth perception), cover test (eye alignment), vergence and ductions (eye movement), and others. One of the most informative tests a doctor can perform to evaluate binocular function is the cover test.

Other Relevant Tests

Functional tests of reading and driving ability can shed light on binocular vision disorders and visual function.
